Zambezi Portland ups cement production increase

ZAMBEZI Portland Cement Limited (ZPC) has increased production of cement to 1,300 tonnes from 1,100 tonnes per day following the installation of new machinery and modification of other facilities at the plant.
ZPC managing director Antonio Ventriglia said the company has increased cement production to meet the increasing demand.
“We have increased production by another 10 percent from 1,100 tonnes to1,300 tonnes, this is also complemented with qualified staff,” he said.
Mr Ventriglia said in an interview in Ndola recently.
He attributed the increase in production to the new machinery and modification of other equipment.
And the company will soon commission a US$2 million new parking plant to expedite the loading of the commodity into trucks.
“We want to improve the space for loading of vehicles,” he said.
Mr Ventriglia said ZPC is in the process of installing new washing and screening plant to process the waste aggregate at the crusher plant. The firm has put up new warehouses for storage of raw materials.
He said the company will spend US$1 million for pollution control to adhere to laws under the Zambia Environmental and Management and Agency.
Meanwhile, Mr Ventriglia said the company will continue to operate within the stipulated regulations in the manufacturing industry in the country.
ZPC, which plans to set up a quick lime plant in the country for supply to the mining industry, has pledged to supplement Government’s efforts in growing the economy.
